Serbia beats France at start of European Championship

BUDAPEST - Serbia's water polo team scored a victory at the start of the 2014 Men's European Water Polo Championship in Budapest as they defeated France in the Group B first round match on Monday, 16-5 (4-1, 3-1, 3-0, 6-3).

The best shooter for the Serbia team was Slobodan Nikic who scored four goals, while Dusan Mandic, Dusko Pijetlovic, Filip Filipovic and Andrija Prlainovic scored two goals each. Zivko Gocic, Milos Cuk, Milan Aleksic and Stefan Mitrovic also scored goals in the match.

In the second round match on Tuesday, Serbia will play against Germany.
