Industrial output drops by 9.2 percent in June

BELGRADE - Industrial output in Serbia was 9.2 percent lower in June 2014 compared to the same month of last year, the Statistical Office said on Thursday.

Supplies of electricity, gas and steam and air conditioning registered a 34.8-percent drop in June, with mining and the processing industry dropping by 17 and 2.7 percent respectively.

The outputs of energy, intermediary products excluding energy and capital products dropped by 24.1, 7.8 and 6.8 percent respectively, while the output of non-perishable consumer goods dropped by three percent.

The output of perishable consumer goods rose by 1.1 percent.

Relative to June 2013, industrial output in June 2014 dropped in 18 areas, which accounted for 62 percent of the industrial output, with growth registered in 11 areas, accounting for 38 percent of the industrial output.

Electricity production and coal mining had the greatest impact on the June drop in industrial output, as did the outputs of metal products excluding machinery, base metals, as well as chemicals and chemical products.
