Sasa Krstic wins 54th Guca trumpet festival

GUCA, Aug 10 (Tanjug) – Winner of the 54th Trumpet Festival in the western Serbian town of Guca is Sasa Krstic from Zaguzanje, the Golden Trumpet audience award went to Goran Rankovic from Guca, the best orchestra was the one led by Dejan Jevdjic from Pozega and the most authentic musicianship was showcased by Ivan Jovanovic from Uzice.

Guca has been called “the capital of the trumpet” since 1961, when the festival, also known as the Dragacevo Assembly, was held for the first time.

The trumpet event in Guca is one of the most visited and biggest festivals in Europe, it is the biggest trumpet festival in the Balkans and one of the most significant authentic folk creativity events in the world, where one can enjoy the unique music played by trumpet orchestras from Serbia and other Balkan countries.

The event is organized by the Center for Culture and Sports of Guca and the Guca local community office. It is sponsored by the Serbian government and the Municipality of Lucani and numerous other sponsors.
