International Sport Film Festival starts Friday at Zlatibor

ZLATIBOR - The 3rd International Sport Film Festival is taking place August 22-25 on Mt. Zlatibor, western Serbia.

The competition part of the program will feature 12 documentaries by filmmakers from India, England, East Timor, France, Russia, Poland, U.S., Canada,Turkey, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Serbia.

In addition to honoring best entries, this year's festival will present lifetime achievement awards, festival director Mihajlo Todorovic says.

“The awards in the field of sport will go to Miro Cerar, Ranko Zeravica, Radomir Antic and Branko Ilic, President of the Chicago-based Illinois State Soccer Association. The filmmaking award will be presented to director Goran Markovic,” Todorovic told Tanjug.

An award will also go to Filmske Novosti (Film News), which will present a part of its collection of sports footage recorded between 1946 and 1989, and promote the monograph marking its 70th anniversary. The festival will also honor the Sports Association of Serbia and the Yugoslav Film Archive.

Aside from the competition program, the festival will screen a number of Serbian feature films with sports topics, including See You in Montevideo, National Class, and The Coach.

The festival is founded by the Municipality of Cajetina, Tourist Organization of Zlatibor, and Maja Film Uzice, in a partnership with the Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Sports Association of Serbia.
