Military Police, Military Security Agency probe incident

BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic stated on Tuesday that the Military Police and the Military Security Agency are gathering information about the incident that occurred during the Belgrade Pride Parade on Sunday, when members of the Gendarmerie used force against Andrej Vucic, brother of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

Gasic told reporters that members of the Military Police Special Operation Battalion "Cobras", who were escorting Andrej Vucic, are actually members of the prime minister's security staff.

"The members of the prime minister's security staff were escorting Andrej Vucic to the apartment of the prime minister's parents not in the capacity of security officers, but they were just accompanying him to make sure that no incident would happen, but it did," Gasic said.

"The Military Police and the Military Security Agency are tasked with probing the incident, and I do not want to issue any further statements until the investigation is over," Gasic said.

Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic ordered on Monday an investigation into the incident in which members of the Gendarmerie used force against Andrej Vucic, adding that the Gendarmerie members will be suspended until the investigation is over.

"After consultations with the Gendarmerie commander and the police director, I ordered an investigation. We will have a report about what happened and we will probably suspend those people by the end of the investigation. We just have to identify everyone who took part in it based on the footage," Stefanovic told reporters.
