Parapolitika reporter, publisher convicted for defamation

A Piraeus misdemeanors court on Wednesday handed suspended 15-month prison sentences to a reporter of the Parapolitika newspaper and its publisher after finding them guilty of defaming Kathimerini investigative journalist Tasos Telloglou.

The ruling was based on an article by the reporter, published in Parapolitika on September 23, which alleged that Telloglou was being paid 5,000 euros a month by businessman Dimitris Melissanidis.

The reporter was deemed to have defamed Telloglou and the publisher was found guilty of being an accomplice.
