Ministers from China, CEE discuss agricultural cooperation

BUCHAREST - Ministers of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries met in Bucharest Wednesday to discuss agriculture cooperation and topics for an upcoming summit that they will attend in Belgrade in December.

The agriculture ministers took part in a China-CEEC agricultural cooperation forum, held within the framework of INDAGRA 2014 International trade fair of equipment and products in agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and animal husbandry in Romania's capital.

Agricultural policy-makers and businessmen from these countries gathered at the forum to talk about ways to expand the existing and seek new venues for cooperation in the field of agriculture.

Serbian Minister of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic pointed out at the meeting that agricultural products from Serbia met the demands of consumers and standards in the global market.

She said that the forum was a chance for Serbia to improve agriculture cooperation with China and European countries.

The participants in the meeting agreed that the countries of Central and Eastern Europe had great potential for the production and marketing of agricultural products, primarily of organic products and products with protected geographical origin.

The Serbian agriculture minister met with the ministers of agriculture of China, Slovenia and Romania on the sidelines of the forum.

In these talks, the officials discussed bilateral cooperation and possible topics for the summit that will bring together prime ministers and ministers of the People's Republic of China and CEE countries in Belgrade in December.
