Habermas: Germany fell to harsh mentality of Merkel and Schauble

86-year-old German philosopher Jürgen Habermas says the German government was entrapped by the harsh Teutonic mentality of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Finance Minister Wolfgang Schuable speaking to French magazine ‘L’Obs’. He believes the German government fell into a historic trap of a ‘semi-hegemonic’ place of the Geerman nation in Europe, something he claims the European Union had managed to prevent from happening until now. “Without the existence of political forces governing Europe in unison, our national economies will diverge even further from one another”, warned the German thinker.
