Trabzonspor's Guinea footballer Constant released after photo with prosecutor
A Turkish prosecutor has stirred controversy by posing for a photo with an international footballer he has released after brief detention.
Turkish football club Trabzonspor's Guinea international midfielder Kevin Constant was detained on Oct. 3 at Istanbul's Atatürk Airport as he was boarding a flight to the French city of Nice.
A heated argument broke out between the airport personnel and Constant after the footballer attempted to use the business class check-in counter earlier Oct. 3 despite holding an economy class seat, Do?an News Agency reported.
The 28-year-old was detained after allegedly insulting the police and taken to a nearby police station for questioning, where he was then transferred to the Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutor Osman Uluduz released Constant after taking his testimony. A photo of the prosecutor and Constant stirred debate on Turkish social media.
Constant joined first division club Trabzonspor in 2014 on a four-year contract worth 8 million euros after departing Serie A club AC Milan.
