Today is Easter

BELGRADE - Serbia started celebrating Easter with midnight liturgies between Holy Saturday and Ressurection Sunday, and the Easter liturgy at the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade, conducted by Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Irinej, was attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.
    
Patriarch Irinej welcomed the arrival of the Holy Fire from Jerusalem together with President Nikolic and shared it among SPC priests and gathered people.
    
The midnight Easter liturgy marks the end of the days of sorrow and the beginning of the Feast of the Resurrection.
    
The most joyous Christian holiday is a "movable" feast in the Christian liturgical calendar, meaning that it occurs on different dates in different years. Easter Sunday falls on the Sunday which follows the first full moon after the vernal equinox.
