Serbian Olympians arrive home, given water cannon salute

BELGRADE - Serbia's medallists from the Rio Olympics arrived in Belgrade Tuesday to a water cannon salute at the Nikola Tesla Airport.

The men's national water polo and basketball teams, the women's volleyball and basketball teams and male kayakers Marko Tomicevic and Milenko Zoric arrived on a flight from Dubai that had been delayed for three hours due to technical problems.

Female taekwondists Tijana Bogdanovic and Milica Mandic, their coach Dragan Jovic and the track and field team - which did not include female long jumper Ivana Spanovic - flew in from Paris earlier in the day.

The athletes were welcomed by many supporters and family members.

After an official press conference, they will be received by President Tomislav Nikolic at 7 pm and attend a welcoming ceremony outside the parliament building at 8 pm.
