Dodik: Putin backed stabilisation in region

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Moscow late Thursday with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, who said the meeting had been very successful and that Putin expressed support for stabilisation in the region.

Putin is familiar with developments related to the Republika Srpska referendum and he wished that everything went peacefully, Dodik told the RTS after the meeting.

The meeting addressed the situation in the Balkans and various international matters, Putin's official website announced.

"I briefed the President on developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska. He noted the need to preserve peace and wished well to all people living in the territory," Dodik said.

Russia is interested in peace and stability, to which it will contribute, Dodik said.
