Vucic meets with Ban in New York

NEW YORK - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York Thursday to discuss the situation in the region, Serbia's European path and the dialogue with Pristina.

Vucic thanked Ban for his constructive contribution to world peace during his term, as well as for UNMIK's engagement in Kosovo-Metohija.

UNMIK's presence and activities are crucially important for Serbia as the UN framework is a guarantee of the status neutrality of the international presence in the province, Vucic said.

Ban noted Serbia had a constructive role in the region and also commended its progress in the talks with the EU, the Serbian government press office said in a statement.

He thanked Vucic for supporting the opening of the UN House in Belgrade and congratulated him on being re-elected Serbian prime minister.
