Human rights watchdog says detention conditions in Romania painfully slow to change for the better

Conditions at Romania's detention facilities are improving, but at a painfully slow pace, and there is a very strong resistance to change on the part of the relevant bodies under the authority of the Interior Ministry, according to Executive Director Maria-Nicoleta Andreescu of the APADOR-CH human rights watchdog who on Thursday unveiled a report on a fact-fining visit to three pretrial detention facilities.
