Belgrade's possible military alliance with Russia to Counter Kosovo Threat

Belgrade's possible military alliance with Russia could add significantly to ensuring Serbia's security amid Kosovo's plans to create its own national army, Serbian military expert Goran Jevtovic told Sputnik Serbia.

In an interview with Sputnik Serbia, Goran Jevtovic, a Serbian military expert, called for a military alliance between Belgrade and Moscow, which he said could help Serbia maintain its security now that Pristina is poised to form an army in the breakaway Kosovo region.

Kosovo's army is already in place

Last week, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci sent the self-proclaimed republic's parliament a bill on transforming the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) into a national army.

The plan was criticized by NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg, who expressed concern over the bill and urged Pristina to maintain ties with Belgrade.
