Montenegro PM Makes Light of Trump's Brusque Shove

Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic on Thursday brushed off an incident at the NATO meeting in Brussels in Brussels where US President Donald Trump shoved him aside to get in front for the photo shoot.

Markovic told a journalist in Brussels that it was only "natural" that Trump should be in the front row, as the US is NATO's biggest member by far. Markovic's tiny country is set to become NATO's 29th member on June 5.

In the video, a group of leaders is seen walking together and talking but, as the group comes to a stop, Trump grasps Markovic's right arm and pushes him roughly aside to get to the front-row spot.

Markovic appears surprised by the shove but then smiles graciously and pats the US president on the back. Trump does not acknowledge him.

"I didn't really register it, I just saw the reaction to it on social media," Markovic said later.  "It is quite simply a harmless situation. I don't take it any other way ... But since today journalists are referring to that scene in different ways I would also wish to tell you that it is natural that the President of the United States is in the front row."

Another video from the Brussels meeting involving Trump provoked mixed reactions in the region.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic was caught on camera as she tried to get as close to Trump as possible.

After being positioned further away from him during the joint walk, she positioned herself right next to him when German Chancellor Angela Merkel was making a speech.
