Lazanski: NATO needed for security of Kosovo Serbs

BELGRADE - Miroslav Lazanski, a military commentator for Belgrade's Politika daily, says he has not seen a single statement - not even one by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg - that Serbia must join NATO, but notes the security of Kosovo Serbs is the reason why Serbia needs to cooperate with the alliance.

"In a way, NATO is a protector of a certain degree of security of Kosovo Serbs. Whether we want it or not, we must cooperate with NATO because it is a guarantor that there will be no violence in the southern province, at least not open, mass violence against Serbs," he told Pink television.
