Serbia to buy S-300s and MiG-29s from Belarus

Serbia will buy four S-300 air defense missile systems and six MiG-29 warplanes from Belarus, the Belgrade-based tabloid Alo has reported.

Tanjug cited the report on Sunday to say that the contract will be signed by presidents of Serbia and Belarus Aleksandar Vucic and Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The daily further said, citing an unnamed source, that the two sides have already agreed on the acquisition and will ink the deal in March.

The source said that these addition will place the Serbian Army "at the very top, when it comes to the region."

According to this, Serbia will get the V and PG versions of the S-300s, while "the situation with the MiGs is similar to the recent acquisition from Russia, which means Serbia will have to additionally modernize them."

Minsk is prepared to deliver these modern systems to Serbia "under conditions far below the market ...
