French President confirms visit to Serbia

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday wrote to his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, Beta reported.

"Relations between the two states are based on friendly, ancient and deep ties, marked very strongly by brotherhood in arms, which united the two nations during the First World War, and consolidated our friendship," Macron wrote in the letter, quoted by the office of the president who earlier in the day received France's new ambassador to Serbia Frederic Mondoloni, the agency said.

Macron described Serbia as France's "important strategic partner," welcoming Vucic's actions to strengthen the stability of the Western Balkans.
