Bosnian Journalist Says 'Wahhabis' Assaulted Him

Bosnian journalists have demanded a speedy investigation into an attack on Nedzad Latic, the publicist and editor of the website The Bosnia Times, who was attacked on Tuesday by a group of men that he described as "Wahhabis".

"After I was done with praying in a mosque, I saw that two Wahhabis were following me and I was attacked near my building," Latic wrote in a press release.

He said this was the third time that he had been attacked after prayers, and believes this one was also planned.

But he warned that the case could be used for the purposes of manipulation and urged the media to report it in an objective manner.

The Bosnian journalists' association called for an urgent investigation of all the circumstances surrounding the attack, a press release on Wednesday said.

It demanded quick and efficient action, which would show that Bosnia's police and judicial institutions act promptly in cases of attacks on journalists, endangering their safety.

Latic is known as journalist who has often criticised Bosnia's main Bosniak [Bosnian Muslim] party, the Party of Democratic Action, SDA.
