"Romania's Royal Family on the fronts of the Great War (1916 - 1918)" exhibition to premiere in Budapest

An exhibition called "Romania's Royal Family on the fronts of the Great War (1916 - 1918)" will be premiered at the main offices if the Romanian Cultural Institute in Budapest on 1 March, the Cotroceni National Museum reported on Friday.

The exhibition, a project in the series of events dedicated to the Centennial of Romania's Greater Union, brings to the attention of the public the patriotism and courage displayed by King Ferdinand, Queen Maria and a part of the Romanian elite, as well as heroes who sacrificed for Romania to be a strong, modern state.

Representing the museum at the opening will be Director General Liviu Sebastian Jicman and historian Mariana Lazar.

The exhibition panels include a large number of photographs and documents from the collection of the Cotroceni National Museum, as well as from the collections of the Romanian Academy Library, the National Archives of Romania, the National History Museum of Romania, the King Ferdinand I National Military Museum and the Diplomatic Archives of Romania's Foreign Ministry.

The opening will be followed by an instrumental recital to be performed by pianist Matei Bucur-Mihaiescu.

The exhibition, organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Budapest and the Cotroceni National Museum, will be open March 1 - March 27.
