"Road to EU historic opportunity for modernization, change"

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic reiterated today that EU membership is a strategic priority for our country.

He remarked that the path to that is a historic opportunity for modernization and change, in line with European values and standards.

Opening the Second Belgrade conference, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz, Dacic reminded that this conference represents a unique form of cooperation and that it is a continuation of the previous one, which was held a year ago in Warsaw.

The conference, which aims to exchange experiences between representatives of different institutions of the two countries in the process of accession negotiations with the EU, is a special format that enriched cooperation, but also received special responsibility for the situation in the field of bilateral relations.

Dacic assessed that relations between Serbia and Poland are comprehensive and good, and that Poland has become an important economic partner of our country.

The Balkans and the EU are needed each other, which is also the basic message of the summit in Sofia, he added, adding that the current generations of European leaders are well aware of the importance of the European perspective for economic development and stabilization of the Balkans, as Serbia understands EU membership as a fundamental change and modernization of society and the state.
