Over 1 Million Eggs will be Withdrawn from the Bulgarian Market

Over 1 million eggs will be pulled out of the market due to outbreaks of bird flu in Bulgaria. This is necessary in order not to spread the disease. However, it is not dangerous for the health of the people, Minister of Agriculture Rumen Porozhanov told BNT this morning.

According to him, bird flu is a problem for Bulgarian poultry breeders for a second year. Authorities expect new outbreaks to emerge, so serious measures must be taken against infection. We are in an intensive process of sampling, the minister added.

He also warned of the danger with the swine epidemic, which already threatens the borders of Bulgaria. "African plague is approaching Bulgaria and is already 150-160 km away, we will have to take preventive measures and adequate solutions against the disease." 

Meanwhile, it has become clear that representatives of the largest pig breeding in the country have urged the state to take urgent action against the spread of African swine fever.
