State to take over airport in southern town

The Nis City Assembly decided on Friday to transfer the management of the airport Konstantin Veliki to the state.

43 councilors voted in favor of the decision, with eight against and one abstained.

Mayor Darko Bulatovic said that the airport was unable to finance itself. According to him, since 20009 the city invested more than RSD 800 million-worth of subventions in the company.

That money could have been used to build kindergartens, water and sewage networks, and other infrastructure, said Bulatovic.
