"Russia's position on Kosovo remains unchanged"

"Our position is unchanged," said spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova, speaking about Kosovo.

At yesterday's regular press conference in Moscow, Zakharova thus responded to a journalist's question as to whether something had changed in Russia's position on Kosovo given Hashim Thaci's statement that he had a conversation with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Ankara earlier this week, Kosovo-based website KoSSev writes.

Thaci said Facebook on Monday that he briefly met with the Russian prime minister: "On that occasion, I called on Prime Minister Medvedev to establish communication between our countries."

"We also discussed the final phase of the dialogue on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and we agreed that the potential agreement would bring lasting peace in the Western Balkans," he wrote.

In addition to news of Thaci and Medvedev's conversation, this week another information related to Russia and Kosovo has been recorded. The Football Association of Kosovo published congratulations on the election of the new president of the association, among which were also those from Russia.
