Tennis: Romanian pair Irina Begu/Andreea Mitu wins BRD Bucharest Open trophy

Bucharest, July 22 /Agerpres/ - Romanian pair made of Irina Begu and Andreea Mitu on Sunday won the trophy of the doubles event of the BRD Bucharest Open tennis tournament, after defeating in the final match the pair Danka Kovinic (Montenegro)/Maryna Zanevska (Belgium), 6-3, 6-4.

This was Irina Begu's second doubles final in Bucharest, after winning the trophy last year alongside Raluca Olaru. In her turn, Andreea Mitu also had now her second final here, after losing in the 2015 final match alongside Patricia Tig.

Out of the five editions so far, three were won by Romanian pairs: Elena Bogdan/Alexandra Cadantu (2014), Irina Begu/Raluca Olaru (2017) and Irina Begu/Andreea Mitu (2018).

For winning the trophy, the pair Irina Begu/Andreea Mitu will get 12,300 US dollars and 280 WTA points, while finalists Danka Kovinic (Montenegro)/Maryna Zanevska (Belgium) will receive 6,400 US dollars and 180 points.
