PSD's Ecaterina Andronescu: PSD chair must take a step back; we need a gov't of super professionals

Bucharest, Aug 14 /Agerpres/ - The Social Democratic Party (PSD) Senator [ex-Education Minister - editor's note] Ecaterina Andronescu on Tuesday asked the leader of this political entity to take a step back "to the benefit of Romania and of the PSD," also adding that in the shortest while the party should come "with a new Prime Minister and a new PSD government of super professionals."

"It's time we wake up and take very seriously our major responsibility the Romanian people entrusted us with: to govern the country. But, in order to reach to that objective, we, the PSD members, need to do two things urgently: 1. To come in the shortest while with a new Prime Minister and a PSD government of super professionals and govern the country, and the party has enough specialists to be able to create such a government. 2. To the benefit of Romania and of the PSD, the head of the party needs to take a step back, to prove that he is a responsible and mature man, to perform an act of courage and political dignity and withdraw from the top position he holds in the party. The reasons are more than enough, we all know them and I am not going to mention them right now. If these things won't happen immediately, we will lose power and us, as a political party, will be facing a disaster, and instead of a government of professionals, which we could form, we will wake up again with a government of amateurs, like we had in this country in the past, and in this Centennial year our country will also reach rock bottom, causing us to despair and others, who do not want us to be strong, united and consolidated in the service of Romania will be thrilled with joy," Antonescu said on Tuesday in a post on Facebook.

The PSD Senator gave as a reason for her appeal to her Social Democratic colleagues "what happens in the PSD and in the country right now."

"What happens in the PSD and in the country right now is not right, it all went too far, and we, the PSD members, as the ruling party, like it or not, we will at some point pay for all that has happened during this crisis situation. We cannot hide all the times from responsibility and blame others," said Andronescu.

Moreover, the PSD Senator urges her party colleagues to look at things in an objective and realistic manner and notice that the current government "does not represent the level and capacity of the professionals in the party", while it is the "expression of a single person."

"Dear colleagues from PSD, I ask you to be objective and realistic. It is not by chance that we got here. Ever since this party existed, we had the most professional governments, which included the best experts and professionals in the country. The party also had human resources of the best quality and real experts, but unfortunately the current government is not the expression of PSD and it does not represent the level and capacity of the professionals in our party. For can this government be compared with the previous PSD governments? Can it be compared with the Vacaroiu, Nastase or Ponta governments? No, obviously not. This government doesn't represent me, it doesn't represent you, dear colleagues, and it doesn't represent PSD and Romania. This government is the expression of a single person, which is not right," claimed Andronescu.
