Drone to help Hunedoara Mountain Rescue Service in specific missions

Hunedoara County mountain rescuers will be able to use a drone in their search missions for mountain accident victims. The high-performance eye in sky can reach an altitude of 1,000 m, has a range of 15 km and a flight life of half an hour.

"The small-size high-performance drone we use is easy to transport, it can be event strapped to the belt, as it doesn't weigh more than one kilo. This is a major feature because we carry our entire equipment along on the mountain," the head of the Hunedoara Public Mountain Rescue Service Ovidiu Bodean told AGERPRES.

The mountain rescuers train daily with the new device to get familiar with it, as it is a very helpful addition in the event of rescue actions.

"We can use the drone to zoom in on cliff walls, when tourists remain stranded in a hard to access area, we can search the abyss for the victim of a fall, or we can fly it over juniper covered areas, because these are difficult to travel on foot," Bodean said.

The drone has already been used in several rescue missions and for training in spots that are difficult to reach on foot. AGERPRES (RO - author: Sorin Blada, editor: Florn Marin; EN - author/editor: Simona Klodnischi)
