President Iohannis says letter sent by ForMin Melescanu on Brexit reflects Romania's stance

AGERPRES special correspondent Florentina Peia reports:

President Klaus Iohannis stated on Thursday that the joint letter of foreign affairs ministers of Romania, Poland and Lithuania regarding Brexit hasn't been talked about at institutional level, but the document reflects, in essence, Romania's stance.

"There are two aspects. An institutional aspect: this matter hasn't been discussed, it's a letter of ministers, not the countries, but, in essence I said many times these things, the UK and, at least in our case, Romania, have are many shared general security interests, approaches on the Eastern Flank and so on. In essence, in substance, the matter reflects Romania' stance, which I underscored several times," Iohannis stated prior to the informal meeting of the European Council in Salzburg, when asked about a letter sent by foreign affairs ministers of Romania, Poland and Lithuania regarding Brexit.

The head of state refused to respond to questions regarding the internal affairs.

"Allow me to discuss internal affairs at home," Iohannis stated. AGERPRES (RO - editor: Mihai Simionescu; EN - author: Rodica State, editor: Adina Panaitescu)
