Crete’s Iraklio airport to be closed February 19-24
The airport at Iraklio in Crete will be closed between February 19 and 24 as maintenance and repair work is carried out on the runway.
Responding to the announcement, Greek carriers Aegean and Sky Express on Tuesday said that passengers will be rerouted to Hania or Sitia or offered the option of a ferry boat.
Hellenic Air Force one step ahead
The American commitment to reinforce Greece with fifth-generation fighter jets, along with the sale of a number of more sophisticated F-16s, is indicative, at least for now, of Washington's wish to maintain a certain balance of air power in the Aegean.

ATHEX: Index stays put following balanced day
Unfazed by political developments in Parliament, the Greek stock market held its ground on Wednesday after its benchmark temporarily climbed above 1,000 points again. Traders engaged selectively in some profit taking while many investors are expecting the issue of corporate results that begins on Thursday, as well as Friday's credit rating report on Greece by Fitch.

ATHEX: Steep drop of index from 8-year highs
The main index at Athinon Avenue came off its eight-year peak on Thursday with a significant drop that bore the marks of profit-taking, but with a significant trading volume that showed interest remains considerable in the local bourse. This was only the second session of decline for the benchmark of the local stock market since the start of the year.

Greece activates S-300s against Turkish F-16s over Aegean
Türkiye has accused Greece of continued "hostile acts" against the Turkish jets, this time by activating the Russian-made S-300 air defense system based on Crete Island.
In earlier incidents in the past week, the Greek jetfighters twice harassed the Turkish F-16s carrying out NATO missions over the eastern Mediterranean and Aegean.

Airlines: Potential come back for Athens airport
