BELGRADE - A central commemorative ceremony marking the beginning of 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia will be held in front of the former General Staff building, downtown Belgrade, on Tuesday at 7:58 p.m., as the hour when the air strikes against the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia started 16 years ago.

VIENNA - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said in Vienna on Tuesday that he believes that Serbia can make a quicker recovery because fiscal consolidation measures are producing results.

Speaking to reporters at the Serbia in Vienna 2015 economic forum, held at the Austrian chamber of commerce, Vucic said that Serbia needs both foreign and domestic investments.

RSD 1.9 billion surplus in state budget

BELGRADE -- In the first two months of this year, "thanks mostly to fiscal consolidation measures and higher non-tax revenues," Serbia had a budget surplus of RSD 1.9bn.

ALEKSINAC - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic laid a wreath on Tuesday at the monument to the victims of NATO bombing in Aleksinac, and stressed that by defending itself in 1999, Serbia also defended the law and justice, the international laws and institutions.

BELGRADE - Serbia is on Tuesday marking the Remembrance Day for the victims of the NATO aggression that killed at least 2,500 and wounded around 10,000 people 16 years ago.

During the 78 days of air raids, 1,008 Yugoslav Forces soldiers and Serbian policemen were killed, as well as around 1,500 civilians, including 89 children.

Serbian ombudsman receives French honor

BELGRADE -- Citizens' Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic on Monday evening received the National Order of Merit of France at the class of knight.

VIENNA - Serbia is very interesting for Austrian companies, Vice President of the Austrian Economic Chambers Richard Schenz said before the start of the business forum Serbia in Vienna 2015 on Tuesday.

He told Tanjug he was glad Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic was taking part in the forum together with a large business delegation.
