Slovenian execs very optimistic about GDP growth

Ljubljana – As many as 72% of Slovenian executives expect the country’s GDP to grow even faster than forecast in the coming 12 months, shows a survey carried out by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) during the Glasgow climate conference late last year. 57% also expect global growth to improve in this period.

Number of passengers in public transportation up in 2021

Ljubljana – The number of passengers carried in public transportation in Slovenia was up significantly last year compared to 2020. However, taking into account all the restrictions due to the epidemic, the numbers recorded in 2021 are still relatively low compared to the pre-Covid year 2019, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

Over 100 organ transplants in Slovenia last year

Ljubljana – A total of 105 organ transplants were performed in the UKC Ljubljana hospital last year. With 18.5 actual donors per million people, Slovenia ranked fourth among eight countries in the Eurotransplant region, the Slovenia-Transplant institute said in a press release.

Number of new coronavirus cases keeps dropping

Žan Kranjec wins silver in Olympic men’s giant slalom

Beijing – Slovenia’s Žan Kranjec won silver in the Olympic men’s giant slalom on Sunday, in what is his first Olympic medal and the sixth for Slovenia at the Beijing Olympics. Swiss Marco Odermatt won gold 19 hundredths of a second ahead of Kranjec, with France’s Mathieu Faivre finishing third.

7,330 new coronavirus cases confirmed as decline continues

Ljubljana – A total of 7,330 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Friday, which is almost 200 cases fewer than on the day before, as the drop in the number of infections continues. The seven-day average of daily cases decreased by almost 617 to 8,009 and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 people dropped by 358 to 7,343, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) said.
