600 Armed Military to Protect the Border Between Turkey and Bulgaria

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov has said that in the future Bulgaria is going to use its army to guard its border with Turkey, reported bTV. 

The border between the two states will be divided into five zones and will be protected by 600 armed military, Karakachanov explained.

Marmara earthquake victims commemorated 18 years on

The victims of the 1999 Marmara earthquake, the worst seismic disaster in Turkey's recent history that killed around 18,000 people and wounded 50,000, were commemorated early on Aug. 17 in the northwestern province of Kocaeli's Gölcük district, the epicenter of the quake, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Turkey's EU minister calls Merkel's remarks on customs union 'unfortunate'

Cavusoglu: We all need to draw, with the UN, a path for Cyprus

 

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu accused the Greek Cypriot side of not wanting a solution to the Cyprus problem in Crans-Montana.

Speaking to the Turkish state television station TRT, Cavusoglu also claimed that the Greek Cypriot side tried to put Turkey in a difficult position using false information.

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) "will not stay silent against plots," its leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said, responding to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's claims that he has been involved in "espionage."

"Erdoğan himself is managing the recent plot against the CHP," Kılıçdaroğlu told a group of journalists on Aug. 16.
