France enshrines abortion as constitutional right in world first
The French parliament on Monday voted to anchor the right to abortion in the constitution, making France the first country in the world to offer explicit protection for terminating a pregnancy in its basic law.

Total Victory for Macron's unpopular Pension Reform
French President Emmanuel Macron's highly unpopular pension law passed another hurdle after the Constitutional Council rejected the opposition's second proposal to hold a referendum to limit the retirement age to 62, Reuters reported.
Macron has defied fierce union opposition and weeks of sometimes violent protests against his plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.

310 People Detained at Protests against the Pension Reform in France
A total of 310 people were arrested across France during protests against the passage without a vote of the controversial pension reform in the lower house of the French parliament yesterday, AFP and BTA reported, citing French Interior Minister Géral Darmanen.

The upper house of the French parliament - the Senate - adopted the controversial pension reform, which caused a wave of protests throughout France and was considered a key measure of Emmanuel Macron's second presidential term, BTA reported.
