Yellen says debt standoff risks ‘calamity’
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in an Associated Press interview Saturday she expects Congress will ultimately vote to raise America's debt limit, but demands by House Republicans for spending cuts in return for backing an increase are "a very irresponsible thing to do" and risk creating a "self-imposed calamity" for the global economy.

Bulgaria's central bank has given Hungary's OTP Bank the green light to buy Societe Generale's Bulgarian businesses, the central bank said in a statement on Wednesday, reports Reuters.

SOFIA (Reuters) - French bank Societe Generale (SOGN.PA) is in final talks to sell its Bulgarian unit to Hungary's OTP Bank OTPB.BU and is likely to announce the deal this month, two sources familiar with the process said.

National Bank considers options after Romanian subsidiary's sale is rejected
Greece's National Bank (NBG) said on Monday it is considering other options on its Romanian subsidiary Banca Romaneasca after Romania's central bank rejected a deal to sell the unit to Hungary's OTP Bank .
NBG had agreed in July last year to sell 99.28 percent of Banca Romaneasca to OTP Bank Romania, a unit of OTP Bank, as part of an EU-approved restructuring plan.

NBG sells Vojvodjanska Banka to OTP
National Bank of Greece announced on Friday it had signed an agreement to sell its Vojvodjanska Banka unit in Serbia and NGB Leasing as well as its corporate loan portfolio in Serbia to Hungary's OTP Bank for 125 million euros.
OTP said in statement that the deal includes other Serbian units of National Bank of Greece too.

National signs off Banca Romaneasca
National Bank of Greece has signed the agreement for the sale of its Romanian subsidiary Banca Romaneasca to OTP Bank Nyrt, the Hungarian lender said in a statement Thursday. The acquisition will boost OTP's market share in Romania to about 4 percent.
