A Damascus passenger plane landed at Aleppo Airport,marking the resumption of flights between Syria's two largest cities for the first time since 2012, the Associated Press reported.

As a regional power with leverage on the ground, Turkey is a key player in restoring peace in Syria, a Russian diplomat who took part in negotiations to bring a ceasefire in Aleppo has said.

At least 12 civilians were killed and dozens injured on Sept. 15 in a car bomb attack in the Çobanbey town of Syria's Aleppo province near the Turkish border.

Syrian government helicopters dropped barrel bombs on opposition areas of the southwest on June 22 for the first time in a year, a war monitor and rebel officials said, in defiance of U.S. demands that President Bashar al-Assad halt the assault.

Mirror - Nine missiles fired on Syria in Hama and Aleppo were fired from British and US bases in Jordan, Syrian media has claimed.

The Syrian army has described the strikes as new "aggression" by its enemies, state television said.

But sources in the MOD say there was no involvement in the strikes, which saw missiles strike targets in Aleppo and Homs.

A number of military positions of the Bashar al-Assad regime were hit late on April 29 by rockets in Syria's Hama and Aleppo provinces, according to the regime's official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
