A penchant for luxury in the energy-rich Gulf state, which has one of the world's highest GDPs per head, has rubbed off on an unusually high-end edition of a tournament for the masses.

Turkish investment, finance bodies open branches in Qatari capital

Turkey's Investment Office and Finance Office opened branches in the Qatar Financial Centre located in the Gulf country's capital Doha.

Qatari businesses will now have access to the many advantages that these offices offer, said Mehmet Göksu, the Turkish ambassador in Qatar, during the opening ceremony.

Formula 1 today confirmed that the Losail International Circuit in Qatar will be the latest addition to the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship between the 19th - 21st November, with Ooredoo - the international communications company as the title sponsor.

Qatar will join the F1 calendar under a 10-year deal from 2023.

Turkish foreign minister to begin Gulf tour

The Turkish foreign minister will embark on a three-day Gulf tour on Feb. 9 for official visits to Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

According to a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Feb. 8, Çavuşoğlu will pay official visits to Kuwait, Oman and Qatar on Feb. 9-11 and "will hold talks with his counterparts and other high-level authorities" on the occasion of these visits.

Qatar Airways says all passengers in Athens-bound flight were healthy in Doha

Qatar Airways claimed on Wednesday that all the passengers in a flight that landed in Athens on June 1 had tested negative to coronavirus when they boarded its plane in Doha.

Greece on Tuesday announced it was suspending flights to and from Qatar until mid-June, after 12 out of the 91 passengers in the flight QR203
were found to be infected.
