Turkey remembers diplomat killed in northern Iraq attack

Turkey July 17 remembered a Turkish diplomat killed in a 2019 terrorist attack in Erbil, northern Iraq.

"We commemorate with respect our martyr Osman Köse, official of the Consulate General in Erbil, assassinated in a heinous attack by the terrorist organization PKK on July 17, 2019," the Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter.

Turkish Red Crescent opens new office in northern Iraq

Turkish Red Crescent on Jan. 31 opened its new office in Iraq's northern province of Erbil.

The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Red Crescent head İbrahim Altan, Turkey's Consul General in Erbil Hakan Karacay, and other officials.

Altan said they have been carrying out relief work in Erbil since 2016.

Trade body planning business mission to Iraq

The Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) is preparing a business mission to Iraq, from September 7 to 9.
The delegation, which will include companies from all sectors, will visit Baghdad and Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The mission is sponsored by Greece's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development.

Melescanu on armed attack in Erbil: We have no element according to which Romanians were affected

Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu said on Wednesday that there are no indications that Romanian citizens were affected by the attack in Erbil, Iraq, in which three people died, including the Turkish vice-consul. Melescanu's statement on Antena 3 private television broadcaster comes in the context in which the Consular Office of Romania at Erbil is in the same building as the Turkish Consulate.
