For weeks, the Nordic country has been on high alert for a potential eruption at any moment after a period of intense seismic activity

A volcano erupted just 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Iceland's capital Reykjavik on March 19, with red lava spewing out of the ground and a crimson glow lighting up the night sky.

The Stromboli volcano on the Italian island with the same name in the north of Sicily is being activated, according to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy.

Bali airport will reopen on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said, two days after a volcanic eruption spread ash across the island and forced the airport to close.

The airport will reopen at 3 p.m, reported Reuters.
