Man, 22, hospitalized after attack by pack of dogs in Thessaloniki park

A 22-year-old man was in serious condition on Monday after being attacked by a pack of dogs on Sunday afternoon in a park on the fringes of Thessaloniki's Seich-Sou forest. 

According to the local police, the man had been walking alone in the Kryoneri park at around 6.30 p.m. when he was suddenly attacked by the the dogs. 

Firemen find burned body in car in east Attica

Firefighters on Friday found a burned body inside a car while trying to extinguish a small blaze in the suburban town of Kryoneri, east Attica.

The car was found inside a stream. No details were immediately available on the identity of the victim.

A unit of 16 firemen managed to put out the flames by Friday afternoon.
 

Letter bomb suspect to testify to magistrate on Wednesday

A 29-year-old man accused of mailing several letter bombs to foreign and Greek financial officials - including one that exploded in the hands of former prime minister Lucas Papademos in May, injuring him seriously - has been given until Wednesday to testify to a special investigating magistrate.

The Greek counter-terrorism unit is focusing its investigations on where the envelope was sent from, amid fears that a series of similar packages could be sent to domestic targets. Former Greek PM Lucas Papademos, who is in stable condition at Evangelismos hospital, was injured Thursday when a booby-trapped envelope exploded in his vehicle.

Suspicious parcels destined for EU countries found

Authorities Monday seized eight parcels - suspected of being booby-trapped - that were found at a post office sorting center in Kryoneri, northern Attica, and destined for various multinational companies and individuals in European Union countries.

The intended targets included Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem, according to sources.

Police find 8 parcel bombs in Postal Services in Attica

Greek police have confiscated 8 bomb parcels identical to the ones sent to Germany’s Finance Ministry and the IMF offices in Paris by the terrorist organisation “Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei”. The packages were detected by the Greek postal services in the Kryoneri Selection Centre in Attica. The parcels were found before being sent to the Athens International Airport.
