Mrkic visits Yerevan

YEREVAN - Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic has arrived in Yerevan where he will confer with Armenian top officials over the next two days.

Mrkic will first confer with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian and then with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

In the course of the day, Mrkic will have meetings with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Parliament Speaker Ovik Abramian.

Mrkic will also visit the Armenian genocide memorial where Turks committed genocide against over 1 million Armenian citizens during the time of the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

Ankara is denying the genocide and the French Senate adopted a law in 2012 whereby anyone denying genocide against the Armenian people is liable to punishment.

On Tuesday, Mrkic will attend the opening of the Serbian-Armenian Business Forum which aims to intensify the two countries' relations.

The Forum is organised by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Armenian Development Agency and it will be attended by PKS President Zeljko Sertic.

At the conclusion of his visit, Mrkic will meet with Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and he should also visit the central cathedral church and the Treasury.

Within his stay in Armenia, Mrkic will also visit the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts.
