Belgrade named best place for tourism

BELGRADE - Belgrade has been named the best place for tourism as part of the traditional International tourist patrol "SACEN International", with Turkey as the best tourist destination and Belgrade-based Singidunum University as the best partner in tourism in southeastern Europe in 2013.

Beside Serbia, the patrol of the International centre for tourism and hospitality development toured Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Tunisia, Malta and Greece.

In a campaign to select the most successful tourism locations in southeastern Europe in 2013, Turkey has been named the best tourist destination, with Belgrade named the best place for tourism, Sacen International said in a statement.

The Tourism Heart of Gold award, dubbed the "southeast European tourism Oscar", will be handed out at a ceremony scheduled for April 29 in Belgrade.
