CeSID and several foreign observers to monitor elections

BELGRADE - The Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID) is the only domestic organization that requested and got accreditation from the national electoral commission (RIK) for monitoring early parliamentary elections, while foreign observers showed greater interest in that.

When it comes to the international organizations of which Serbia is a member, observers will be from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe/ Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, OSCE Mission to Serbia, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Observers will also come from the central electoral commissions of Albania and the Russian Federation.

When it comes to the international organizations of which Serbia is not a member, the RIK accredited a delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States to monitor the forthcoming elections in Serbia.

As for international NGOs, the elections in Serbia will be closely watched by the Japan-based Joint Network for International Volunteers.

The three embassies got accreditation for observing the elections- the UK Embassy, Bulgarian Embassy and U.S. Embassy.
