Four north Kosovo municipalities to pass charters Wednesday

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The four municipalities in northern Kosovo-Metohija scheduled separate sessions on Wednesday to adopt municipal charters, and Ksenija Bozovic, president of the municipal assembly of northern Mitrovica, has said that draft charters are status-neutral.

In a statement to Tanjug, Bozovic said that the deadline expires on Wednesday for the municipalities of northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic to adopt the charters.

The session in northern Mitrovica will be held at noon, while in other three municipalities the session will begin at 5 p.m., Bozovic added.

Certain assembly members from non-Serb communities that are engaged in the work of local assemblies in northern Kosovo-Metohija noted earlier that the charters pending for adoption are unconstitutional as they are in contravention of Kosovo laws.

During the session of the municipal assembly of northern Mitrovica, the newly-elected mayor Goran Rakic should be sworn in and take office.
