Belgrade, China sign memorandum on cooperation at Book Fair

BELGRADE – Officials of the City of Belgrade and the Chinese State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television signed in Belgrade Wednesday a memorandum on cooperation at this year’s Belgrade Book Fair, where China will be the Guest of Honor.

The memorandum was signed by City of Belgrade Secretary for Culture Vladan Vukosavljevic and Vice Minister at the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China Wu Shulin.

As the Guest of Honor, China will present its latest publications in the fields of literature, science, journalism and in that way make a significant contribution to the book fair and its decades-long good reputation in the region, Vukosavljevic said.

Visitors from Serbia and the region are eagerly expecting the representation of China as Guest of Honor at the international book fair taking place in October, he added.

Wu said that the Chinese government and the department he represents are dedicating great attention to China’s participation as Guest of Honor at this year’s Belgrade Book Fair.

We believe that the project is a concrete step in realizing the agreement between the two country’s presidents to deepen relations and strategic partnership between Serbia and China, said Wu.

At the book fair, China will not only present its latest publications but also its history, tradition and contemporary Chinese culture.

During the trade fair, China will organize about a dozen cultural manifestations in Belgrade, including forums and exhibitions.
