Bunjevci back SNS slate

SUBOTICA - The Bunjevac political and national organizations backed the slate of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) for early parliamentary elections on March 16, it was said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The Bunjevac Cultural Society, Bunjevac Party and Bunjevac Party of Vojvodina called for the unity of Bunjevci concerning the issue, underscoring that this is the main prerequisite for further prospects and cultural development of the Bunjevac institutions.

Leader of the Bunjevac Party of Vojvodina Vojislav Orcic noted that SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic gave full support to the Bunjevac intentions for forming a commission tasked with standardizing the Bunjevac language.

"We have got what we lacked for so many years- an offered hand that we accepted. That is very important for the survival, future and development of our national community," Orcic said.

During his recent visit to Subotica, Vucic toured the Bunjevac Cultural Society, the unique institution of Bunjevci in Serbia.
