Charters adopted in three municipalities, Mitrovica pending

ZUBIN POTOK - Municipal charters have been adopted in three municipalities in northern Kosovo-Metohija, while in northern Mitrovica the debate on adoption of this document is still underway.

The mayors of Zubin Potok and Zvecan, Stevan Vulovic and Vucina Jankovic, respectively, and president of the municipal assembly of Leposavic Zoran Todic stated for Tanjug that assembly members from these municipalities adopted the municipal charters.

Assembly group leaders of the northern Mitrovica municipality are still working on harmonization of the text of the municipal charter.

The topics on the agenda, besides the adoption of the northern Mitrovica municipal charter, also include the swearing-in of the new mayor Goran Rakic.

All but one of the 19 assembly members in northern Mitrovica are present, with the exception of Oliver Ivanovic of the Citizens' Initiative SDP who is in detention.

At the start of the session, Albanian members of the northern Mitrovica municipal assembly proposed that the agenda be amended to include the election of deputy president of the municipal assembly of northern Mitrovica, to which the minority community is entitled by law.
