Dacic: Vucic has nothing to do with Lazarevic case

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Ivica Dacic said on Friday that Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader and First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has nothing to do with the opening of the Lazarevic case.

"This case should be free of any political implication. It has no negative effect whatsoever on my relations with SNS and Aleksandar Vucic”, Dacic told reporters.

"I want to stress this in order to avoid any unnecessary disputes between SNS and SPS,” said Dacic, and urged all politicians not to insert political elements in their statements about this case.

Dacic underlined that institutions should do their job, and noted that he is looking forward to the conclusion of the case against his former chief of staff in the previous government makeup Branko Lazarevic and to the arrest of the fugitive drug lord Darko Saric.

"As far as I am concerned, I cannot wait for all those cases to reach conclusion and for Saric to be taken into custody, so that all those who collaborated with him could be tried, and I think that others should be worried and not me,” said Dacic.

"I support the work of the judiciary and the police, and we should not comment on it from a political aspect. The truth is yet to be established. Politicians should focus on political topics and not on ongoing cases,” stressed Dacic, adding that all wrongdoers should be held accountable.
