Jankovic to face Serena Williams in quarterfinals

DUBAI - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic beat Czech Republic's Lucy Safarova 7-5 6-4 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Dubai.

The match lasted 1 hour and 42 minutes, with Jankovic coming out on top after a great struggle and a lot of ups and downs in her game.

She will now face Serena Williams from the US, who is the top seed in Dubai.

The two have so far played 12 matches and Williams won 8 of those, including the four most recent.

Ana Ivanovic was beaten by Venus Williams 6-2 6-1 earlier on Wednesday.

Prize fund for the tournament is USD 2,000,000.
