New government to continue EU integration, economic reforms

BELGRADE - The new government of Serbia will continue to pursue the policy of the EU integration, accelerated financial consolidation and economic development, Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday in the talks with members of the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Serbia will safeguard political stability and continue to pursue the policy of peace, dialogue and regional cooperation, which is one of the most important conditions for economic growth, the prime minister said as released by the Serbian government.

Dacic underlined that the goal of the government is to stabilize the economy, resume production and increase exports in order to ensure sustainable economic development, and to provide jobs for the largest possible number of workers and improve the standard of living.

The talks with the IMF started between technical experts in Belgrade on February 26, while the official talks kicked off with a plenary session at the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) in which the Serbian delegation was headed by Serbian Minister of Finance Lazar Krstic.

The IMF delegation headed by Zuzana Murgasova will stay in Serbia until March 13 as announced earlier by the IMF Resident Representative Office in Serbia.
